Status Metrology Solutions - one of the leading suppliers of new and used co-ordinate measuring machines (CMM) and sub-contract measuring, training and programming - will celebrate its 25th anniversary during 2007.

This landmark anniversary for the Sandiacre, Nottingham-based company comes at a time of genuine optimism with the company looking to expand and develop its sales, service and support for users of high-precision co-ordinate measuring equipment.

Founded as a manufacturer of CMMs, Status Metrology Solutions has since developed into an all-round supplier of high-quality measurement solutions. “Like all successful businesses we have evolved over the years and, in our case, this has resulted in the development of three distinct business divisions,” says Status Metrology Solutions’ Director Tony Tillett.

“While new and used CMM sales remain core to our business, we also offer a comprehensive retrofit and upgrade service for all leading makes of CMM. This sits alongside our Europe-wide service/repair/calibration service, which is centred on the provision of support for users of Hexagon Metrology products. The final piece of the jigsaw is the contract measuring and programming service, which is performing exceptionally well at present.”

Status Metrology Solutions is tapping into the market for contract measuring and programming that has developed in response to the underlying skills shortage within quality control departments across the engineering sector. The increase in demand for these services has resulted in major investment in six CMMs with a measuring capacity up to 4.5 m dedicated to contract measuring.

Contract measuring is available from one-off to large batch volumes and the CMM capacity offered by Status Metrology Solutions, along with its unrivalled expertise in programming with the widely-used PC-DMIS software has resulted in it becoming the largest provider of this service in the UK.

“Our contract measuring and programming business far exceeded our targets for 2006 and we fully expect this trend to continue in 2007, which will be a perfect way to celebrate 25 years of business,” says Tony Tillett. “The fact that we offer complete training on the full range of PC-DMIS software has given us a distinct advantage, in that we can work with operators with skills ranging from basic to advanced and still add value to their job function
